Improvements based on your feedback will be apparent at this year’s annual convention. League staff has been working for nearly a year on addressing concerns and making changes based on evaluations from last year’s convention. It is our desire that the 74th Hawaii Credit Union League Annual Convention, April 26-28 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, will exceed your expectations.
One of the more noticeable improvements involves food and beverage service. A brunch buffet will be added to the Friday morning schedule, instead of a Continental breakfast and box lunch. A delicious array of hot and cold entrees provides a satisfying mid-morning meal for conventioneers. A similar brunch buffet will also be served on Saturday.
Holding the line on cost while presenting a fabulous dining experience at the Saturday night banquet is always a challenge. However, League staff has tirelessly negotiated the best possible pricing for a sumptuous dinner menu. Banquet service issues at last year’s convention has been and will continue to be addressed with the hotel staff to ensure an exceptional banquet experience.
Annual convention registration is now open! Please join your credit union peers for what promises to be a wonderful time of learning, networking, and fun. Registration materials were sent out in January and can also be accessed on the League’s web site. Registration deadline is March 16.

Ben and Maila to bring vibrant harmonies to convention banquet

Plans are well underway for the Hawaii Credit Union League 74th Annual Convention from April 26-28, 2012 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. From the golf tournament to the impressive speaker line-up, this promises to be an outstanding event for Hawaii’s credit unions.
Your League is pleased to announce Ben Vegas and Maila Gibson will provide the Friday night banquet entertainment. Ben Vegas and Maila Gibson have been performing together for over 10 years. Maila’s silky vocals and Ben’s guitar artistry bring new life to adult contemporary and contemporary Hawaiian music.
You can find them entertaining monthly at Gordon Biersch or at a friend or family member's wedding. In May of 2010, they released “Forevermore,” an album of modern love songs to honor the many brides and grooms who have invited them to share in their special day.
Separately, they've recorded their own albums and have their own musical accomplishments. Ben's hit songs include “Puanani” and “Maile Lei.” He is often called upon by some of Hawaii’s most notable artists to play guitar. Maila's a Hawaii Music Awards winner, a five time Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominee, and was featured on two Grammy nominated recordings with the popular Hawaiian recording group Ho’okena.
The official HCUL 74th Annual Convention brochure and registration forms will be in the mail on January 13. Don’t miss this event!
