Join us for a two-day educational seminar on consumer and real estate lending. Day one will cover the Truth-in-Lending Act
requirements specific to consumer lending, Card Act requirements, affiliate marketing rules, credit union’s duty to report accurate information, risk-based pricing notice, requirements associated with providing firm offers of credit, and extending credit to active duty service members. Review various protected classifications under Regulation B, rules related to applications for and extensions of credit, recognized forms of discrimination, and adverse action requirements.
Day two will focus on the disclosures required in response to an application for a real estate loan, procedures for the collection of monitoring information as well as how to deliver documents electronically under the E-Sign Act. Discuss underwriting requirements to include the ability to repay rule, higher priced mortgage loans, high-cost mortgages, appraisal rules and flood insurance requirements. Review the Notice of Right to Cancel and the requirements in connection with private mortgage insurance under the Homeowner’s Protection Act. Fair lending discussion specific to real estate lending will focus on the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act as well as the Fair Housing Act.

SPEAKER
Michael Christians is the Regulatory Compliance Counsel and Principal of Michael Christians Consulting, LLC, He assists financial institutions and organizations across the country with ensuring their compliance programs conform to Federal laws and regulations. He provides counsel relative to current rules, assists with the strategic implementation of upcoming regulatory changes and offers customized education and training services.
Michael has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry with a primary focus on consumer compliance. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School. He is a member of the Iowa State Bar where he is licensed to practice law. |
