Hawaii Credit Union League offers educational opportunities for credit union staff and volunteers. This includes the annual convention; two-day regulatory and governmental affairs conference; two- or three-day compliance schools; several special interest seminars; plus, numerous webinars and one-day workshops. HCUL promotes America's Credit Unions national and regional schools, conferences, and distance learning as well as Western CUNA Management School.
Educational Recognition
The Pakela Awards for educational excellence honor credit union professionals and volunteers for their commitment to continuing education beginning July 1 each and ending June 30 the following year. It recognizes outstanding professionals who achieve the highest educational credit hours in their respective credit union asset size and individuals attending 15 or more educational credit hours by attending League workshops, seminars, and conferences. It also recognizes individuals who received a America's Credit Unions Professional Designations certificate, America's Credit Unions Recognition Program certificate, and/or graduated from Western CUNA Management School.
Financial Education
Promoting financial education to credit unions, members, and the public is an important initiative. Through partnerships with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, LifeSmarts, Hawaii Homeownership Center, and Hawaii Council on Economic Education, HCUL connects credit unions with resources to promote financial fitness.
